The summer months are officially among us. The sun is out, flowers are blooming and our summer holidays are fast approaching. While many of us thrive off the warm weather, some people find that that their diet tends to suffer during the summer. Here at The Light, we have a huge variety of healthy options to help keep you fit and cool you down this summer.

  • Starbucks iced green tea latte

Need to cool down on a hot summer’s day? No problem! A perfect substitute for a frappucino, Starbucks’ iced green tea latte is a blend of lightly sweetened matcha green tea, milk and ice. A tall (12oz) drink contains just 160 calories, and can be made with a variety of different milks, including 2%, whole, almond, soy or coconut milk, making it suitable for vegans too!

  • Greggs’ salad range

Not only is Greggs the UK’s leading provider of baked goods, they also have a tasty, inexpensive salad range. What’s more, their salads are prepared freshly in-store every day. Some of our favourites at The Light are:

The chargrill chicken salad contains fresh salad leaves topped with chargrill chicken, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and sliced mixed peppers, accompanied with coleslaw and a pot of honey & mustard dressing. Containing just 203 calories per salad, it’s the perfect dish to keep you healthy and cool during the summer months.

  • Falafel, Harissa, Roast Vegetable and Grains Salad

If you’re looking for a meat-free option, this could be the salad for you. Greggs’ falafel, roast vegetables and mixed grains in a vinaigrette are accompanied by fresh salad leaves, red onion and mixed peppers, with yoghurt & mint and harissa style dressings on the side. The salad is suitable for vegetarians and contains just 314 calories per portion.

  • Browns Light Mains Range

Dining at a restaurant with loved ones doesn’t necessarily mean spoiling your diet. Browns’ Light Mains menu includes mouth-watering dishes, such as prawn & crab linguine, smoked haddock fishcakes, courgette, mint and lemon tagliatelle and a wide range of salads.
