Where to celebrate National Fish & Chip Day at The Light
It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for! 7th June is officially National Fish & Chips Day, and to make things easy for you, we’ve pulled together our selection of the best places to get your fill of the classic British favourite…
As well as serving the classic line caught crispy battered cod served with thick cut chips, tartare sauce and pea & mint purée (£14.25) Browns also has a selection of other tantalising fish-based dishes to choose from, such as the sumptuous fish pie, with prawns, salmon and scallops all on a bed of Isle of Man cheddar mash and a flavourful herb crumb (£14.95).
What could be more traditional than the ‘This is England’ dish served up at Firelake? Consisting of Crispy Haddock fried in local Leeds beer batter with triple cooked chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, all for just £14. Or if you’d prefer something a little different, there’s the Torched Mackerel on toast option, served with delicious fresh blistered cherry vine tomatoes, celeriac purée, rosemary focaccia and green salsa (£18).
It may be a well-renowned steak house, but Miller & Carter also has a number of fish dishes on offer, like the Hand Battered Cod with seasoned fries, tartare sauce and minted crushed peas (£12.75). Or if you’re on the hunt for something a bit more exquisite, why not try the roasted salmon, planted on a bed of lobster risotto with baby gem, rich champagne thermidor sauce, fresh tomato salsa and lemon (£14.95).
