From burgers to pizza and dessert - the dishes at The Light you won’t know are vegan this Veganuary
Challenging yourself to Veganuary this month? You’re not the only one, as Google Trends data shows a 50% increase in searches for the term in December 2021 compared to December 2020*. While you may be trying your hand at some new homemade dishes, there’s no need to ditch eating out with friends and family altogether.
To help you get the best of both worlds, we have have some delicious vegan dishes that will have you questioning if they’re vegan at all!
Breakfast
If going out for breakfast is your thing, there’s plenty of vegan options to choose from including Fleur’s delicious smoothie bowl. Packed with soya yoghurt, fresh fruit and nutty granola this dish is sure to set you up for a productive day.
For those looking for meat alternatives to get them through the challenge, Starbucks has the ideal plant-based breakfast sandwich for on the go, or sitting in.
Nothing says breakfast quite like a bagel though, and Bagel Factory understood the assignment with its hummus, avocado and tomato bagel.
Lunch
Whether it’s a light bite or a fuller meal you’re after for lunch, there’s plenty of vegan options to choose from. Sit down with friends at Prezzo for a vegan pizza or penne arrabbiata that will have you scraping your plate for more!
Think you’re going to miss burgers the most in this challenge? Head to George’s Great British Kitchen for its lunch special deal and bag a butternut squash and chickpea burger for just £7.95.
Buddha bowls are a go-to for veggie lovers, but Turtle Bay make it so you don’t have to stay at home to enjoy this latest healthy eating trend. Their organic tofu bowl is packed with jerk glazed tofu pieces and sweet mango mole – what’s not to love?
Browns have also launched a plant-based menu to make the selection process that much easier, and with dishes like their asparagus and butternut squash curry and super green and grain salad, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Dinner
Brown’s vegan dinner options don’t wavier either, with a Portobello mushroom, chestnut and spinach wellington that will have you never choosing the beef option again, and a pesto-based risotto that will forgetting about parmesan altogether.
Nando’s vegan options are so good, you’ll be ordering them for the rest of the year. They have everything from wraps, pitas and burgers to try, including their pea-based protein non-chicken chicken strips – and let’s not forget their famous peri-peri chips on the side.
But if it’s carbs on carbs you’re craving, head to Zizzi’s for their new rainbow lasagne or classic rustica hot and spicy jackfruit pizza, you’ll be grateful you did.
Dessert
Veganuary doesn’t mean giving up sweet treats either, so don’t pass on the dessert menu this month.
