Five Ideas for the Perfect At-Home Date Night this Valentine’s Day

Date night may seem like a distant memory in the midst of lockdown but with Valentine’s Day almost upon us, here are our best ideas for bringing the ultimate, romantic date night to your home.

Recreate that restaurant-feel

If you fancy a break from cooking, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to order in a delicious takeaway. Some of our restaurants here at The Light are offering dine-out services, including Zizzi and Nando’s, so why not treat your partner and save on the washing up!

Or, if a home-cooked meal, prepared with love, is more your style, why not go all out and make a three-course meal together with recipe inspiration from the menus of some of our restaurants? Once you’ve chosen your food, create just the right atmosphere by lighting some candles and ensuring you have the perfect playlist.

Make your own cocktails

Alongside the food, you could also get creative with drinks. Turtle Bay has loads of recipes on its website to help you make its delicious cocktails from home. You could also do this as a virtual double date via video call with friends.

Or, if you’re more of a wine-lovers couple, why not opt for an at-home wine tasting evening and see how well you know your Merlot from your Malbec?

Have a movie night

While you can’t catch the latest blockbuster at Vue, everyone loves an at-home cinema. Maybe you could watch a favourite movie or perhaps a film with special meaning, like a first date memory. Make sure you’ve got the popcorn ready and a cosy set up, one perk of lockdown is that it’s never too early to put on your pyjamas! And if you can’t be with your partner at the moment, you can still watch a movie together virtually via services like Netflix party.

Make your own mini golf course

If you’re missing mini golf at Junkyard Golf why not create a course in your own home? Obviously, you’ll need some form of golf club and balls (and quite a bit of creativity!), but it’s sure to be a fun change from the usual lockdown activities.

Use household items and cardboard to make a course and some makeshift holes. If you want the full Junkyard experience take your homemade cocktail around with you, dim the lights, and find a party playlist for background music!

Have a spa evening

Finally, if you’ve watched everything on your list and mini golf seems a little too much effort, a spa evening could be just for you. Light a candle, have a bath and pop on matching facemasks. You could even add in a massage for extra romance and relaxation.

However you spend your Valentine’s Day, it’ll certainly be different to previous years but hopefully just as enjoyable!
