Keep the whole family entertained with our quaran-TV suggestions
Finding something to watch that all members of the family can enjoy is never easy. But during the current lockdown, a fun family film day can be a great way to keep the kids entertained. So while the cinemas are closed, here at The Light, we thought we’d lend a hand by pulling together a list of five must see films and TV shows, which are all available on Netflix, and that everyone will love…
1. BFG
First on our list, it’s the modern re-telling of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book, the BFG. Directed by Steven Spielberg, this version features stunning animations and is a perfect way to introduce your kids to the wonderful age-old story.
2. A Series of Unfortunate Events
Based on Lemony Snicket’s children’s novels of the same name, the Netflix original series follows the three Baudelaire kids: Violet, Klaus and Sunny who are placed in the care of a mysterious distant relative. This adventure show is not one to be missed and with three series available, its sure to provide an entertaining way to pass time during lockdown.
3. Rango
Next, we come to the hilarious Rango; an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the lawless outpost of Dirt in the Wild West. Starring Johnny Depp, this contemporary animated classic keeps people of all ages gripped from the start.
4. Horrible Histories
Educational, entertaining and funny, what more could you want? Horrible Histories is a must watch for all families home schooling their little ones. And with five series available on Netflix, it has a range of episodes covering a wide variety of historical periods and events. Plus, it stars loads of famous faces. A perfect substitute for history lessons.
5. Shrek 2
After rescuing Princess Fiona in Shrek, everyone’s favourite ogre is back! This time he’s faced with a much bigger challenge; meeting the parents of his new bride. Mike Myers and Cameron Dias lead a stellar cast in this sequel that will have the whole house laughing from start to finish.
